Blacksmithing Guide – A Primer On WoW’s Blacksmithing
This Blacksmithing guide will detail some important things about a primary profession in WoW called blacksmithing.
Blacksmithing is the profession that turns ordinary metals into valuable weapons and armors. Whereas in the past only vendors and a few players from the Auction House could serve as the source of gears, blacksmiths can now create special gears to sell to other players. The ability of the Blacksmiths to create some of the better items in WoW, braces and sockets included, from special recipes makes them a very valuable part of the WoW community. They are, in fact, one of the main sources of gears for plate- and mail-wearing WoW classes.
{Who Can Become A Blacksmith}
Any class in WoW can become blacksmiths.
But, this is most recommendable for players who have already picked up a few mining skill points.
Mining is the profession that allows for the gathering of ores from resource nodes which the Blacksmiths require in order to create special items. Still, even non-mining characters can still practice the Blacksmithing profession although this may prove a bit expensive since they will have to purchase ores instead of collecting their supplies for free.
{How To Get Started With Blacksmithing}
Just like other professions in WoW, Blacksmiths undergo training to be proficient in the trade. If you’re looking for a trainer, you can locate them in any major cities or zones in Azeroth.
The trainer will start training you for a fee and every so often, about 50 to 75 skill points, you will have to return to your trainer to increase your rank from Apprentice to Grand Master. This profession has 6 levels starting from the Apprentice which has 1 to 75 skill points and ending with the Grand Master with 375 to 450 skill points. In between are the Journeyman with 50 to 150 points, Expert with 125 to 225 points, Artisan with 200 to 300 points and Master with 300 to 375 points.
As you level up in the profession, you will acquire the necessary proficiency to create items useful to higher level characters.
You can unlearn this profession any time and pick up another profession. However, you must only make this decision if you’re really sure about it since you will lose all your skill points once you start unlearning this. You will have to start from the start if you decide to relearn it.
{Skilling Up}
As a production profession, Blacksmithing allows for leveling up only by going to a nearby forge to create items. For leveling purposes, each item created by Blacksmiths are color coded to indicate how many points it can dish out. For example, Orange items provide skill points every time they are forged. Yellow items give out skill points the majority of the time. Green items may give skill points every now and then while Grey items don’t give as much as one point at all times.
Skilling as a blacksmith could be made faster by creating goods that are from rare materials or goods that are highly demanded by other players. Otherwise, the profession could prove very costly.
{Item Creation}
Forging items require recipes or formulae that are obtained either from trainers or traded by other players. For more information on how to forge items, a Blacksmithing guide could come in handy.
