Why You Should NOT Buy A Wii Console
We here at the Wii Showroom have researched the pros and cons of owning a Wii. I will start off by first stating why you should maybe NOT buy a Wii Console (i.e. the negative aspects). Hmmm…Hmmm…Hmmm…I’m thinking….Hmmm…I’m happy to say that we could not find any cons worth mentioning.
So lets focus on the pros and why we fully believe owning your own Wii will bring you hours of fun entertainment. NINTENDO WII IS FOR EVERYONE – irrespective of whether you are a hard core 35 year old gamer still living in your old lady’s basement because of your gaming obsession or if you are a grandpa who is as scared of anything remotely technology related like someone who is allergic to bee’s, and every time you see a console you go running as if it is the mother of all bee hives. The Wii has such a diverse collection of games and is so easy, interactive and fun to play with its intuitive motion controls that everyone in the family, whether it be the hard core gamer nephew or gramps, will enjoy some or other aspect of it.
Wii Games are as much fun to play one up as what they are to watch Grandpa playing Wii Fit, showing off his 1939 boxing moves from back in the day – difference is now you can actually watch him do it instead of just having too listen to his stories. As long as what Granpa can still string together a few combinations he will be able to show you a thing or two. No experience needed – except his boxing skills of course. The point I’m trying to make is that the magnificent Wii gaming console delivers a fun social activity for the whole family and must surely be the only gaming console that can bridge generation gaps so easily because of its user friendliness. If you don’t enjoy it you probably also don’t like puppies, ice cream or having fun – in which case you’re a lost cause anyways, so sorry, nothing (not even 1000 free Wii games) or no-one will be able to help your grumpy ass (excuse my french, but some folks just don’t get it).
Lets just quickly run through a few Wii Games so that you can have some idea of what to expect. I will try and keep it short so that you don’t get bored, but still end up having a better understanding as to why wii (and by wii I mean we…get it… wii we wii we wii we, sorry getting a bit carried away with a lame cheesy joke hey?)…..why we believe there is no better gaming console in terms of compatibility with people of all ages.
If you can think of a type of game then Wii probably has one available. From the legendary Mario Bros to Sports Games, Racing Games and Adventure Games, to jamming with Guitar Hero. There is definitely a game available for everyone in the Wii collection and too many to mention here (please refer to the Wii Showroom game pages after reading this article to check out some of the best games available). In Super Mario Galaxy you will encounter UFO’s, Power Stars, Creatures called Lumas and so much more as you go Galaxy hopping in your quest to rescue the Princess. This game is probably not for the technology phobies though, but with such awesome graphics I’m sure they will enjoy watching a bit as junior goes space hopping. For Mario fans there is a host of other Mario games as well, from Mario Kart to Mario & Sonic at the Olympics.
Do you agree that music brings people together? Then why not get out Guitar Hero 5 at the next boring family seminar. You can have family members singing their own rock songs or you can do some family bonding and jam together as a band depending on how many instrument controllers you have purchased. Uncle John can have everyone in stitches when he sings his favourite and ridiculously funny Bob Dylan song. Unfortunately though some peoples singing is either as interesting as listening to the baa sounds of a sheep or as painful and annoying as listening to the mating calls of a cat on heat in the middle of the night. You can choose anyone to hand the microphone to, just remember it’s fully at your own risk. This game will however provide lots of fun and laughter at the next family get together!
Another game that most definitely deserves a quick mention is Wii Fit. I hear you, what the heck does fitness and gaming have to do with each other? I think because there is a bit of a mindshift from exercise to playing games, expectations are for something fun and that just changes everything. There is yoga, skateboarding, obstacle courses, boxing and Rhythm Kung Fu but too name a few and with the Wii Balance board you’ll be off the couch in no time, doing all sort of silly moves as you play the various exercise type games. Just by playing a few games you’ll be working up a sweat, you heart will be getting some exercise and Mr.Couch Potatoe will become Mr.Muscle, well maybe not that drastic, but you get the point. Although there are some tougher workouts, Wii Fit will no more make you super fit than what rhythm kung fu will turn you into the next Bruce Lee but at least you’ll be doing exercise and having fun….I’m being dead serious….exercise while you’re having fun. Impossible? Prove me wrong.
There is another aspect of gaming that I personally view very important…time limitation. In todays hectic world we hardly have time for ourselves let alone enough time to learn the ins and outs of a complicated game. Most of us just don’t have time to become hard core gamers. With our hectic daily lives and responsibilities like work, going to the shops for groceries, studying, family responsibilities, those boring household chores etc. etc. etc…..most of us average Joe’s want to kick back and have fun with our gaming consoles without getting too serious about it, hell we already have enough serious in our lives. Nintendo Wii Games provides all of that with the added bonus of being able to provide an awesome interactive social experience. Make no mistake though, this doesn’t mean the Wii Console is for amateur gamers only. It truly is just for gamers of all ages irrespective of your level of gaming experience. Wii is therefore probably the best all round gaming console available today.
Fans of the other consoles can say what they want to about the Wii, but deep down they know that the Wii is still the most user friendly console around for the average Joe. Then is one more small matter that proves it’s not just us who thinks the Wii is awesome…..Nintendo Wii remains the fastest selling console in the history of the gaming industry and that says it all. The facts are the facts, whether the sceptics like it or not the numbers don’t lie. More than 75 million Wii Consoles have already been sold and we are convinced millions more will follow. Whether you become part of the worldwide Wii family is of course entirely up to you. Nintendo Wii is truly for you, and me, and everyone out there who wants to enjoy gaming.. So what are you waiting for?
